When you were on the hoist, did you had the engine running and the car was "driving" when this happened? If that is the case, the front drive shaft shouldn't be turning if the transfer case is not in 4wd.

Just an idea, this is how it goes we pool our resources (money) we get enough people to pool resources (money). lets say we wanted to win the lottery or run a company. now we have enough resources, then we could move our money around to where the best interest rates are.Japan, where ever currency is the highest. We could all live off the intrest for the rest of our lives. If this rings a bell then I want in and dont think someone else will send me money I want my piece of the pie. I have not seen one red cent in paypal yet. just something for the effort. I am going to be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed if it happens again.

i was just changing the oil in my truck when i noticed that the cv shafts and front drive shaft were turning all the time. Its not in 4wd because i can brake torque on the black top. if that not the way then what can i do to fix this problem.

Were you turning them by hand, or with the engine?

No, that's not right. Most likely cause is either the vacuum solenoid is bad or both of your IWEs are shot. IWEs are the actuators on your hub bearing assemblies.

Description of operation:

When the 4-wheel drive system is in 2WD mode, the 4x4 module (PCM) supplies a ground path to the IWE solenoid to apply vacuum to the integrated wheel ends (disengaging the front hubs from the front halfshafts). In 4WD mode, the 4x4 module (PCM) does not supply the ground path to the IWE solenoid, vacuum is not applied to the integrated wheel ends and an internal spring keeps the front hubs engaged to the front halfshafts.
Good luck.
