Default 4x4 shift fork?

Hello all. I have a 97 f150 4.6 4x4 that was n and out of 4 wheel drive for a few miles. I repaired the blue vac line that caused the issue. So I put the truck on jacks and put it n 4 lo. All 4 wheels spin, but the front spin faster(while n drive/idle) than the rear. Also I can stop the front by hand, and the pass front won’t start spin again like the driver side does. Is this normal or have I messed up the shift fork? Any thought would b a great help. There’s no grinding noise, but I was n the truck when this happened so not surepp

I do not believe you messed up anything, what you described would be considered normal.

If you can , read up on just how a transfer case works AND a differential and you will see why there is no cause for worry at this time.

Thanks for your reply. I have since removed the inner shaft and fork/slider. Fork and pads r like new. No wear on the gears or slider/washer. The fluid was grey but not gritty of metallic. The reason I pulled it apart is there is a bad rubbing sound coming from truck with wheels on the ground. I put truck on the lift and hear nothing. N 4lo, 4hi, and 2 hi. But wheels on the ground and a growl rub sound come from middle of truck rubbing increases with speed, sound continues on deceleration. I also found tranny fluid n transfer case about 2cups, which is what the tranny took last week when checked.
Ya

Growling noise many times comes from bad bearings.

Noises do telegraph sometimes and can take you for a real ride trying to pin down.

A homemade stethoscope is very helpful for something like this, use a piece of hose , just be careful of moving parts.
