Default 5.4 starts and dies if I let go of the gas? stumped

Hello all I have a 1998 expedtion 5.4 , and I am having intermetting issues
with the truck staying on.

When I start the car It will only stay on if I keep the gas pedal
pressed down and sounds normal, no spitting or coughing.

This happened once last week, and 4 times this week.

The wierd part is sometimes its normal and sometimes

it gives me this problem and Luckily it happens at my house so I dont
get stranded.

Any help? I read some vacuum hoses may cause this if so
and certain ones or locations would be great, Thanks

Also read in the forum for an explorer it was idle air control valve.

As a guess, I would say the Idle Air Cintrol valve. Your symptoms really mimic a valve starting to hang up.

Started fine 5 times in a row, then this morning took 3 x to stay on??

sound like IAC still, should I go for the 46 bucks and replace it

If it were mine, I would replace it. Aftyer all, it is 10 years old and has moved thousands upon thousands of times.
