Default 91 ford starter question

My son owns a 91 f150 4.9ltr in line 6. He had to change his tranny and now there is a question about the 2 wires down by the starter. The heavy gage wire from the solenoid is obvious. I know that goes to the starter. My question is what about the other one. A smaller gage wire with a square end and a anti spin tab bent off the side of it. The starter only has the one tab(post) off the back of it. Do both wires go to that tab?

The starter is new, the solenoid and battery (fully charged) are also new. The truck will turn over with both wires hooked to the starter, but it drags terribly.

Default RE: 91 ford starter question

I would think there would be another hook up at the starter but not sure I will check my 91 tonight and let you know.
