97 f150 4.6 v8 miss under load and rough idle
So the other day I was driving and I noticed it was running a little weird, a free a bit it got worse and now it missing under any accel. And sputters every little bit during idle. I had the codes checked and I had four logged codes (p1151, p1506, p0155, and p1056). I was told that it was my missing pcv valve that was causing the issue so I put a new one in and reset the codes. The next day same issue and the truck flipped the same codes, please help
Hi Ya Nick !
If I'm wrong , please correct me.
How could you be driving around a vehicle without the PCV valve and not suspect something is wrong?
PCV valves are specific for each vehicle and you need to install the correct one.
The codes you listed seem to suggest a possible problem with an oxygen sensor and/or its circuit on the driver's side of the engine.
There could also be a problem with the idle air control valve mounted on the throttle body. They do have a tendency to get carboned up and not work as designed, so you might want to check that out.
Can you let us know what you find?

It hadn't given me issue for the first month or so with out it. I did a engine swap and was missing part of the piping for the pcv valve, I did get one in and I dug around a bit more by the o2 sensors and found the drivers side was unconected, I re plugged it in but im still haveing issues, should I clear the codes on the computer? Or does that mean it still has something wrong? Later tonight I'm also going to clean my MAF and check the IAC as well. When I did the engine swap (about a month ago) I cleaned and replaced the IAC and egr pipe and all systems associated with that.

Alright, so right after I found the o2 issue and fixed that, the check engine light started to flash, so I checked the codes again, all same as before. But now I has a miss fire on cylinder 4 (passenger side bank 2) any ideas?
The computer doesn't always know a problem has been corrected so the codes should be cleared and rechecked after running and driving the vehicle a short while.
It is always a good idea to start from scratch when looking for causes of a misfire.
Confirm that the plugs, wires and compression are up to par. Don't overlook the basics by possibly looking for something complicated.

This came to me as a Reported Post..

Okay, thank you, I've checked the spark plug wires, pcv, cleaned and tested MAF sensor, checked for vacuum leak with starting fluid, and both O2 sensors. Everything so far have been working fine. So I'm hoping the issue is simple.

Thank you, sorry about that, this is my first time using a forum, and lastly I'm down to checking my spark plugs, coils and maybe one or two other things, but this morning I got a new symptom, I live in Wyoming and this morning it was about 35 degrees. When I got in the truck and started it and drove off, I was running just fine, it wasnt until the temperature started to climb that it started miss firing and running rough again.
Nick, this is how I see it,
You received a tip off that there was a problem with cyl #4, last cyl on pass side.
If your vehicle has the 2 coils with 4 towers on each coil, I would suspect there is a problem with the coil supplying that bank. Coils do have a tendency to break down under load and when they get warm, that is why I would consider replacing it. Sometimes you can see the carbon tracking or cracks on them and they will still check good with an ohmmeter , but produce a misfire.
