abs light

Default abs light

the abs light on my 2000 F150 is always on, i took my truck to a local Ford dealer, they told me the cause was my speed sensor? anyone ever heard of this? i also have a broken emergency brake cable, the told me to replace the cable they also need to replace my rotors, anyone ever heard of this?

The speed sensors 'do' fail fairly often and is a common repair. Not only to your specific MY/application..The cable is replaceable 'without' a rotor replacement, unless they saw a reason during an inspection? The rotor/s utilize a 'drum in hat' type ebrake, and if the ebrake had dragged ect. a rotor/replacement may be needed.. Or if the rotors were beyond/below minimum service spec limits..

Here's a pic of the disc brake/ebrake and the hat/drum system..
And the rear diff. speed sensor should you want to do the replacement yourself.. One bolt, plug'n play...
