Default Ac clutch hub

I bought a 2003 f-150 4.2l about a year ago. My gf doesn't like that it doesn't have air conditioning. "We" decided I was going to fix it.
So it appears the clutch hub fell off. I bought a new one through rock auto and now through searching on here I've found I need a spacer between the hub and pulley.

Is this actually needed? I used a washer and it didn't work as a spacer. It seems to work fine without the spacer.

Also the hub I received has a m8 thread and the shaft is smaller. I assume the retaining bolt should thread into the hub and also into the shaft. Is the hub the wrong part? The part number is motorcraft YB3031

Thanks in advance.

Yes. It's supposed to have a .030" spacing or close to it.
