Default clutch slave

I had an '02 F-150 v-6 5 spd, replaced clutch slave @40,000, buddy replaced his @42,000, my brother w/'02 4x4 v-6 5spd @ 40,000+, now it's out again @ 79,000. Is this an every 40,000 mi service? I traded mine after my friend had the same issue but my brother doesn't have that option now that it's sitting at the house w/o a working clutch. Does anyone know of any recall or bulletin on this?

Never seen clutch slave failure on the full size vehicles. I'm sure Ma Ford has no recall issued on a hydraulic part of clutch. Especially if they at least last 40k. Try flushing the system clean with brake fluid. It may be contaminated fluid causing these failures.

it's not an intrnal problem, I don't think, because the seals leak and you get fluid on the clutch disc.
