Cracks in exhaust manifold
At first I got p0175 I errased it. I drove it for a week on the way home it went into limp mode . then I got p0174, p0175 & p0304..the truck has 235000 miles. I have the exhaust manifold off and a new one to put back on but I broke a stud below the level of the head I made room to get a drill in there but not sure if that's the best way to remove .
Something to consider,
There are right angle drills, see if an auto store near you will rent you one.
Also, make sure the drill you use can run in reverse, If you obtain a left handed drill bit or two and operate the drill in reverse it sometimes will bite and unscrew the broken piece of the stud/bolt.

Thanks Hanky your suggestion saved me from pulling my head off. I drilled about 1/4" into the stud I felt it move drove a torque head with a few taps with my hammer put a socket on and backed it right out. I did have to apply pressure towards the head so it could bite into the stud more. I'll report back if my codes go away. Thanks again Hanky
Should I put the extra effort in replacing the old exhaust manifold studs with new ones?? My old ones have no rust, damaged threads or signs of streaching. It seems there would be more chances of breaking off trying to remove them. Thanks for any advice.
There is a nice product called Never Seize , . If that is applied sparingly to the threaded parts, it will usually make removal easier next time. And you know how that works,, because you planned ahead you most likely won't have to go there again.
Hi Hank I jumped the gun on asking should the exhaust studs be changed out also. I just had to try a little harder. My problem was trying to use the flange nuts. You can't get two wrenches on them to tighten on the stud. I went and got regular nuts screwed them half way up the stud tightened them together reversed direction with wrench on first nut and they backed right out. Upon removal inspection of old studs two of them had hairline cracks on the threads that screw into the head. Probably caused from using my air ratchet when removing the exhaust manifold flanged nuts.

I put new spark plugs I went back to platnum the ireduim type that was installed all of them had a ridge building up from the spike on the end of the plug the gaps were all differant. There was no color change on the tips of the plugs on bank 2 from the p0175 code I'm getting. The crack in my exhaust manifold might have nothing to do with that code but the crack was huge looking on the inside from the crack to the o2 sensor there's a light hard white film it covers part of the o2 sensor then it goes away when it hits the main exhaust pipe . my other o2 sensor has no white film around it or on it. I'll keep posting outcome. If no improvement I'll get a live scan done.

parts installed drivers side exhaust manifold with new 02 sensor, plugs & wires. Truck still runs rough lost two codes p0304 p0175.
p0174 remains. Next parts to change fuel pressure sensor, fuel filter and injectors. I found injectors on eBay for $138 for six. Local parts store wants $68 each both are no name brands. Amazon has injectors same cost as eBay but for some reason they can't be delivered to my address. For the fuel pump am I correct in thinking that they either work or don't?? I also noticed on last engine start upper radiator hose was always hot never felt an exchange of cool fluid. Would a stuck thermostat cause a lean code?? Lol I've read so many of these forums and I always felt bad for the person who thought just replacing the plugs will be the easy fix. Then you go back and check on his column he's got 15 new parts added maybe even replaced his new plugs with a differant brand. Only to be chasing the same code.
