Cranks But Will Not Start
1994 F-150 XL 4.9L V6. Other than the Engine, I have replaced everything but the fuel pumps, fuel injectors and the Transmission Control Module. After replacing the ECM she drove like a dream. I let the fuel get too low and she was cutting out so I switched tanks, that one was also low and she cut out. The front tank gauge does not work. I made it to the gas station and filled her up and drove home. She sputtered a few times and cut out in the driveway. Now she will only crank but not start. The fuel pumps kick on. I changed the fuel filter. The Schrader Valve flows gas when pressed in. I sprayed starter fluid in the throttle body, still cranks but will not start. Any suggestions?
Suggest you rent a fuel pressure gauge and verify fuel pressure of approx 45-60 psi. You cannot go by fuel leaking out of the schrader valve.
Be prepared to clean out each tank if you decide to do the fuel pump replacement. If you do not have the facilities to drop a fuel tank safely , leave the job to a good shop.
A tank of fuel can get pretty heavy. Fuel can weigh approx 14-15 lbs per gallon.
