Default Flap underneath the engine?!?!?

Ive felt some resistance while driving and I looked under my truck and the front flap under the engine is flapping. First of all what is it? Do I need it and should it be replaced? Thanks for the heads up.

It just keeps road splash out of the engine compartment. Some mechanics forget to refasten it. There are usually push pins to hold it in place and if they are gone you can use a couple of zip ties to resecure it.

I always ask the question , If the manufacturer could save loads of $$$ by not installing that shield why do you suppose it is placed there? It is there for a reason.

Im pretty sure its there for aerodynamics, theres a small metal shield to protect the steering rack and a small forward shield to protect the front belts/help with max air flow through radiator.
