Default Fuel economy

I have a 2013 F-150 with the V6 EcoBoost motor. I've driven this truck for about 2 years now. It has 85,000 miles on it, most of which I put on it. My fuel instrument gauge tells me that I'm running 14.9 miles per gallon on average. I've tried resetting it a few times and change driving patterns but I can't seem to get better fuel mileage.
I live at high altitude in Denver. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to increase my fuel economy. I'm surprised that a V6 EcoBoost doesn't do better.
Any thoughts?

Thanks. That is both helpful and disappointing.
