I'm new to this Forum but hoping to get some guidance from the wise sages of the mechanical world in order to fix my truck electrical issue.
I have a 2010 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L 4x2 (Mileage
Under 65,000)
I do some side construction/remodeling and haul a trailer, which is why I need this fixed. Long story short, There was a short in the Trailer due to a faulty ground and a faulty in the truck ground wire on the Wiring harness.
I fixed both but upon installing the trailer I noticed the Running lights on the trailer still don't work. Referring to the Ford Manual It directed me to the Fuse 31. I inspected it and found this. (Refer to Picture) The fuse box seems damaged and the bottom fuse case as well perhaps. I still haven't dove in yet since I'm doing extensive research beforehand. I was hoping for some help in deciding my options.
option 1.
Talking with a Ford OEM parts rep. he suggested I replace the whole wiring Harness (Wire Harness - Ford (BC3Z-12A581-F).
This option to me seems way too extensive/expensive and more work than I can handle.
option 2
Buy a used Fuse box off Ebay or a used OEM parts store for only the Fuse Box where all the wires are cut off on the side and have to re-soldering them each exactly to the exact same location of the previous wires. Again this is an extensive route I believe and can be very risky if I don't do this correctly with each wire.
option 3
(This I hope and believe is the smarter/better option)
My idea for this is in two parts but I was hoping that I can get some help on here with the parts or direction where I need to look bcs I cant find very much on the underside of the fuse box to show the type of terminals/connectors that are used. If I can find before or even after I remove the wiring from Slot 31 to remove the wiring in inspecting the Electrical terminal, I was thinking of just cutting back this wire (if there's not much damage) Crimp a new terminal/cartridge and solder then place in a different location, but I don't know if this is possible, or the best route in completing.
I found out that you can reroute the water pump on the Ford F150 is quite common but I believe this is used on a Bussmann Fuse BP-FMX-20LP-R. The fuse relocation kit allows the original equipment fuel pump fuse to be moved to a new position in the fuse box for improved performance and reliability.
Not sure how well something like this can relate to my idea.
If I can get some help on any of my options or even provide a new one, I'd be happy to learn!
Let me know if you have any questions!
