Question Heating problem

My 77 Ford is having a heating problem. It heats up guage is in normal range and the hoses are hot. But no heat inside the cab. The blower motor works fine it blows no heat. I replaced the heater core so i know its not that. And strange part. The hoses going into the heater core the one going into it is hot and the return one isnt?? Has a vacume looking thing on the hose. Cant see where it connects to. Can i bypass that? What is the problem do you guys think? Blower does blow but not even warm air. Cant figure it out?? Please help winter is comming soon

May have to pull the dash apart and make sure the proper vent doors are opening and closing as you adjust the heater *****.

Ok i will try that. I know there is one vent door that seems to stay open near the heater core. I thought about bypassing that vacume deal on the return hose because its not hooked up to anything.

If you feel so inclined, sure you can by-pass the heater control valve in the return line.
It is most likely in the closed position and that is why the return hose isn't hot also.
The right thing to do would be to find the vacuum hose that goes on that heater control valve and put it back. The question is , why was it removed? If you decide to remove the valve , when you are done you might take the upper heater hose with the engine running and just slightly take it back off enough to let the air out of the heater core. Don't do this if the coolant is already hot.

I have no idea what happend to that line or where it hooks up into. I just might do as you sugguested and take that heater control valve off. Its rusted anyway and i tries to move the deal on the side to see if it would move and it was hard to move almost like it was rusted shut. Going to bypass that and see what happens. Like i mention earlier the inlet hose is hot and the outlet is just barley warm. Hopefully this solves the problem. Now the hose you are refering to take off iss it the one attached to the heater core end or the one thats attached to the block end? Thanks

The highest one, since air rises to the top.

That valve was placed in the line so when A/C was selected it was supposed to shut off the heat to the heater core and help make the A/C more efficient. Some models used that valve to control heater outlet temp.

Oh wow i did not know that. Very useful information!! My truck had A/C its not hooked up and i beleve the evaporater is even taken out. Just the pump is still bolted up front near the PS pump. I tried to remove the pump just have 2 bolts holding it in now but thats another story lol. I do beleve my valve is rusted shut. I sprayed some penentrating oil on it and i t help some but is very hard to move. I loosend the clamps on it and its stuck on there pretty good. But i will get it off this weekend when i have more time
