Default How to add aftermarket tow packages

I have a 2016 F150 XL Sport 2.7L v6 with no tow package. The only thing it has is a 2" ball on the bumper, 4-pin connector, and a haul switch button on the gear shift. I have no brake controller. I am wanting to tow a flat bed, 2 tandem axle 16' trailer. It has electric brakes, battery, and a male 7-pin trailer connector. How do I set up my truck to properly tow this trailer? I know I need a brake controller that fits in the dash, but heard of some horror stories of these running your battery down. Do I need a whole new harness from front to back or one that connects to the wire harness above the spare tire? I know I will need a scan tool as well. I need part info and I don't want to break the bank. Thank you in advance.
