Default How heavy have you towed?

94 f150, 4.9L, 5spd trans with 3.08 rear diff.

The owners manual states the max trailer weight that can be towed is 2300lbs.

Anyone who has towed with this truck; is that all it can handle or is it way underrated?

The same truck with the same engine and rear end but an auto trans is rated at 4700lbs.

1997 Ford Expedition/ home made 16 foot x 83 inch double axle trailer with two 10,000 lb capacity underslung units. Trailer weight 2,870 lb. Load; a free industrial paint bake batch oven on top-o-6x6 timbers and chained it all down for a ride from Detroit to Toledo. The oven was about 7,700 lb and we made $21,000 after the oven was rebuilt and resold.
So where are we? About 14,500lb plus 6,300 for the tow vehicle. So 17,870 lb give or take.

skip.
