Default Ignition Switch

Do I need to remove the steering wheel to replace the ignition switch in a 1987 Ford F150 or how? No tilt.

Are you talking about the tumbler section where the key goes in or the switch down on the steering column?

This is a pretty simple procedure, but since you're doing it for the first time, I would suggest that you remove the negative battery cable because all the while you're doing this the key will be in the on position and if there is a warning chime it can drive you nuts!
Under the steering column just below the tumbler (special hole just to get at the button) is a button that with, the key in the on position, if you depress that release button with a flat drift pin or punch you can pull the key and tumbler section right out. Simply push the replacement tumbler in making sure the slots in the steering column portion line up with the slots on the replacement tumbler. It is that simple. You can do it !
