Default Manual Shifter problem

I've got a 94 F-150 with the 6cyl and a manual transmission.

The shifter has no track to it. I can get it in gear and find all of the gears, but the shifter moves all over the place while even in gear. I've talked to a few people and most are saying there's some barings where the shifter links with the transmission that might need to be replaced, but not getting any positive feedback.

Do you have a top loader trans or a single rail overdrive trans? The difference is where the shifter enter the transmission case. The top loader is on the very top of the trans and the single rail is on the tailshaft housing.
