need a question answered.
So I am new to my 1985 f150 300 cid. I love that I6. Now the problem I have is I have replaced the alternator and the battery dies fast, I looked at a schematic and it is attached correctly. Someone off hand mentioned a generator. Now I know the difference, but does this specific engine take a generator instead. I really want to get that truck back on the road, because my little v6 sonata isn't cutting it.

generators have not be used in 40 years. your vehicle uses an alternator.
you need to perform some tests before replacing any parts. the first test is to have the battery tested. If the battery passes a conductance test; start the vehicle, turn on every electrical accessory the vehicle has and measure the voltage across the battery. You should have between 13.5 to 15 volts.
