New F150 owner with questions (13mpg?)
New(to me) 1995 F150 regular cab 4x4 with the 5.8 and 113k miles on the clock. Mint condition, runs like a champ. I love the truck. Some questions:
1) is 13mpg highway the norm for this vehicle?
2) the 19 gallon gas tank only accepts 14 gallons, thoughts?
3) the original owner lifted her approximately 18" off the ground, how hard is it to lower back down to factory ride height, and do you think I'll see much of a fuel economy benefit?
4)The steering wheel controls do not function: cruise control and horn....something simple perhaps?
5) 4x4 engages with the push button control, but 4x4 Low does not....the dealership said it might be a solenoid....any other ideas?
Thanks everyone.

nice truck ! it looks like my 96 ford f-150 ! it probably has those automatic hubs so put manual hubs in it and it might be easier on gas ! i am going to change mine over to manual hubs because i have 1 messed up ! maybe the tank is leaking towards the top the reason it don,t hold 19 gallons ! you might see a little difference in the gas by lowering it but nothing to brag about ! check the fuses if the cruise don,t work !
all trucks were not built to get really good mpg . they were made to haul loads. the reason your truck drinks the gas is because your gears are too low in the third members. It
doesn't matter what the hubs are auto or manual. good luck with it

real nice truck you got there! looks to be a 3in lift but some things you can do to improve gas mileage are>
1 check to make sure all your tires are inflated to spec
2 check for any vacuum leaks they will cause a decrease in mpg
3 Make sure you not in 4 wheel drive while your driving in the city
theres proably a few other things to check that i forgot to mention
