Default Odometer Quit Working

I have a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4, 5.4L with an automatic transmission....Lately my odometer has been working on and off. Usually it stays off for a few miles and then comes back on. However, sometimes it will stay off for 10-20 minutes before lighting back up. I'm pretty sure the mileage is stored in the ECM but if I try to sell this truck it will be VERY hard to do with the odometer not working.....

any ideas?

May end up needing to replace the cluster to get a new odometer. Might be able to locate a used one at a salvage yard.

That's what I was afraid of. Will my mileage show up the same with a new gauge cluster?

I believe it is stored in the computer, so you should be fine.

Try this site and search for odometer blackout. There's a great fix for this with pic's and step-by-step instructions. I had the same problem and this works!

Mine too. My 99 F-150's odometer has been going in and out for a couple years now. Thanks for the info
