Oxygen sensor
I have a 2002 F150XL 4.2L. I am trying to purchase the up and downstream O2 sensors for this truck. Only problem is when I look up the part at the local auto parts stores it shows the same part number for upstream and downstream. When I asked on eBay dealers are telling me that up and downstream 02 sensors are different. I want to the Ford Park website and it shows only downstream sensor for the vehicle I cannot find upstream. Also Advance parts store shows Motorcraft but the same one for upstream and downstream. So I am confused can someone please guide me to where I can find out or if they’ll know if the up-and-downstream oxygen sensors are the same. Truck is giving a code P1131
thank you

Welcome to the site..
02's may not be the issue.
1131 is an indication that the 02 isn't 'range switching' or cross counting. Under normal condition the 02 will range a voltage as the PCM monitors their activity. Vacuum leaks/bleed, EGR, un-metered fuel leaks, MAF/TB contamination etc can cause 02 to not range setting the code.. First may be to check for vacuum leak around the PCV/tube.
Good 02's get replaced under missed system issues fairly often.

Hi Hayapower
Thank you so much for a fast reply and your assistance. I been told by others as you say it probably is not the O2 sensors but probably a connection problem. I recently had a 1518 and had to remove the Plenum and more to reach the clips that hold the rod on the IRMC. I installed new clips to all 4 spots, new Isolator bolts and rubber seals. As soon as I was finished I got the 1131 code. Before I did the work the only code I had was 1518. Finished job and now I have a 1131. So I figured I screwed something up. Or sprayed to much Carb cleaner, maybe where it does not belong. Any other assistance is greatly appreciated. Again, I do appreciate your help and knowledge.
