Part location?
I have a 1992 f-150 5.8 that is getting KAM errors. Where is the ECM on this truck? It cranks but won't start. The last time it started fine but had not power, ( it could not drive up the drive way) had to get a running start and coast up . That was the last time it started.
The ECM on your 92 F150 is on the drivers side inner fender. To remove it, open the hood and look down between the master cylinder and the fender, you will see a 60 pin wire connector with a 10MM bolt in the middle, that is the ECM harness. Loosen the 10MM bolt, remove the wire connector and you will see the 2 nuts used to retain the ECM, remove the 2 nuts and the retainer plate and the ECM will slide out of the fire wall towards the wheel. You will need to loosen the inner fender so you can push it down slightly to gain enough clearance to completely remove the ECM.
Checked the area , found two connectors with 10 mm bolt but neither connect to the ECM. Both connect to wire harnesses inside cab and go up into dash. Don't know if it makes any difference but this is a f-150 supercab long wheel base ( 8 foot bed) 5.8 liter AOD with tow package.
Think your looking at the bulk head connectors..
Under the hood, follow the drivers side plastic inner fender where it mates with the fender. The ECM/PCM is between the master cylinder and the fender, look down low at the firewall and fender area, the large connector and weather seal is reasonably easy to see...

Scan tool still communicates with the ECM? Any CEL prior to the running concern? Other than KAM..
Have you checked the power distribution/fuse for the ECM after the no start? Spark present, injector pulse, fuel pump run when the ignition is cycled ON?
If it's bad, generally a used one is sourced, wrecking yard, eBay, or you can send yours in and have it repaired if it proves to be bad. I don't know of anyone that can test them at a shop level..
