Default Power window motor

I just replaced the motor. While screwing around with the regulator I ended up with a coiled spring ( 3-4 inches in diameter ) in my hand. Where does it go and how is it installed?

The only place that I am aware that has a coil spring like you describe is on the cross pieces near the center where they pivot. If you can't get a satisfactory reply , the only other thing I would suggest is to look at the other side and see just how the torsion spring is set on the regulator assy.
