Default Questions about purchasing an F150

Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying a used 2000 F150 4.6 v8 triton. It is a very nice running truck, has 140k miles on it. The check engine light is one, the seller says its because he put the after market air intake in it and didn't hook up something to a valve that the stock intake was hooked into (sorry, I admit I don't know a whole lot about trucks but I am very interested to get into them.)

Both of the people I've talked to about this year of F150, including a guy who worked in the service dept of Ford, says that the oil pump will go out around 120k miles and will require 5k worth of repairs. Obviously, I don't want to pay this. Wondering if you guys have had any experience with 98-03 F150s and oil pumps going out? I've only seen a handful of problems on the internet. Thanks everyone.
