Default Rebuild engine?

I have a 97 F-150. We went to change the plugs to find out there was oil on one. We didn't check the others. Someone said the engine needs to be rebuilt b/c the seals are leaking. Is this true? How much does it cost? How long can I drive it like this before it gives out. We pull a utility trailer with it.

How much oil? You need to do a compression test to determine if it needs rebiult. These engines are known for leaking around the valve stem seals. If it is leaking valve seals, you can repair it without a rebuild. You can repair it in the vehicle and is not terribly expensive or tiome consuming.

The entire spark plug was saturated with oil. It was 2 quarts short. We filled it and then pulled the plug. It was fresh oil on it. Balpark on price?
