Default started right up.

i put a fresh battery in my 95 f-150 that had been sitting since last spring and it cranked about three times and fired right off and stayed running. now if i could only get my 85 ford motor home to do the same, it will start right up but as soon as you put it in gear it dies. someone put an endlbrok carb on it and monkyed with the vacuum hoses. i am thinking about disconnecting all the vacuum lines and getting rid of all the emission stuff and running a line to the dist, and to the cruise, and to the tranny since most of the stuff is nonfunctioning anyway. or i saw in my parts catalog they have a throttle body system the is self tuning and comes with everything but the pump and return line for 800 bucks would that work on a 86 460?
