Default Starting Problem

New to the forum hope someone can help. I have a 95 f-150 with the 5.0. If I have the truck sitting for a while(more than one day) I have trouble starting it. I can crank it all day and nothing. If I keep on persisting and crank it with some occasional gas it will eventually start up hard then run and idle fine. it seems the longer it sits the worse it is. if you may have any ideas let me know. Thank for reading!

Default RE: Starting Problem

If there's no fuel smell around the engine compartment, you've probably got a fuel leak allowing fuel rail pressure to seep back into the fuel tank. This can be caused by the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump itself. If the truck hasn't been to the dealer for 8 years or so, it might be worth a try. There was a safety recall on some of those regulators. You may end up with a free fix or at least know it's a fuel pump problem if the regulator doesn't do the trick.
