swapping 4.2L engine
Hello,
please excuse the newbie(me).
My question is simple(I think)
I want to know if I can pull the 4.2L out of a 1999 F-150 and put in my 1998 E-250 (both have the 4.2L V6 engine and both have AT
Everything should bolt up the same right??
Thanks so much

Thanks, I was thinking so too...
But two or three heads are always better than one...
Im guessing that except for bringing the dipstick and oil filler out of the doghouse(E-250)
everything should be ok...
Thanks again

The engines are very much the same; however, do make a through visual check of the mounts. Something sticks in my mind about there being a difference, but that could just be insanity.
While it's out, and it being from an E series, are you going to reseal it? It's probably leaking something from somewhere (front cover, front/rear crank, oil pan, etc.)

If the Blocks are the same but the mounts different shouldnt I be able to swap mounts as well??
Yes, I may go ahead and just rebuild the old engine as a backup unit or sell it...and recover some of my cost...
