Default Tie rod ends

My 02 f150 had such bad tie rods shops refused to do an alignment until they were replaced. I replaced both my inner and outer and got them as straight as possible. Now my steering is squirrelly and my tires screech when I go anything above 30-35 mph. What could it be?

When tie rod ends are replaced, alignment MUST be done.

Folks don;t realize the distance of the entire tie rod has been altered and must be reset so the wheels are parallel and pointing straight ahead.

Some settings will set the wheels very slightly pointing inward because when actually running they have a tendency to spread outward. This dimension is critical and is measured in degrees. A good shop will not attempt an alignment with worn tires or worn steering parts. It is a waste of time and effort.

So just have an alignment done and if there are no other worn parts, you should be good to go.

This is a time where you want to go to the nearest shop. You don't want to damage your tires from a severe toe situation.
