Smile Turbo Problem

I have a 2012 Ford F150 FX4 V6 and is leaking antifreeze. I was told that it was leaking from the turbo. Over the past week or so the engine makes like a whistling sound on acceleration. Any ideas on if this is the turbo going bad? I was given a estimate of about 1700.00 for the repair. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

There was a known problem with the connection at the bottom of the degas bottle (coolant recover bottle) . The coolant would leak down the hose and wet the turbo, making one think the turbo had a problem. You might get another estimate for the repair . I believe the hose goes for around $100.00 plus labor.

I had a diagnostic test done last year and was told that the coolant was leaking from the left hand turbocharger and coolant supply tube assembly and now the whistling sound is getting a little louder upon acceleration.

A good part of the time , a whistling sound from turbo area is caused by a loose hose clamp allowing boost pressure to leak out and cause the whistle.
It is not that you can't effect repairs, but best left to a shop with experience because if there is more involved ,they should be able to handle it.
