I am trying to buy an f150 to tow my RV the is 8000 lbs loaded .... 2.7 won’t do it 3.5 reg. Won’t do it I believe 3.5 twin turbo will but really hard to find in my 2016-2018 search in Ontario Canada
So I have been looking at v8 but they too have limitations , vin number lookups , are confusing if you saw this what would you think it could tow 8000 lbs and why please and thank you

So you are looking for a 2016 to 2018 F150 with a 5.0 and want to know if it can tow 8000 pounds, is this correct?
What cab configuration do you want?
What bed length do you want?
4x2 or 4x4 drive?
All of these will affect your towing capability.

Yes but there are so many configurations of the 5.0 due to axle ratio and box length and wheel drive 4x4 etc. Who can you trust not the dealer , they want a sale and not the RV seller they want the sale too .... so you have to trust the numbers of the order vin. I guess !
Since you didn't specify what configuration you want I am assuming what you want is a list of the towing capabilities of each configuration possible with the 5.0 engine and will use that to determine what configuration to purchase.
Confirm this is correct and tomorrow I will dig around for the towing specs sheet I've seen before on FMC.

You can find quite a bit of year and build specific GVWR, load/tow/curb axle weight ratings etc data here for your M/Y's under Vehicle Specs

Sorry I posted to the wrong thread .... 2016-2018 f150 4x4 supercrew four door 5.5 foot box , I have a weight distribution attachment part of the purchase. I am looking the truck to have the following trailer factory installed package, pro trailer backup assist, rear camera , trailer brake assist , rear camera my confusion is when you look at the vin # you should be able to see the total amount each engine can tow with each engine and each axle and each size of truck and size of box but it rambles off the engine and axle but then ten or 12 weights as possibilities ! I can’t figure it out is there no Ford technicians who can read these numbers and how do you get an honest number so you don’t blow your engine or can’t even get the trailer to move ..... when you look at say CarGurus you get has 3.5 litre no axle ratio so you have to trust a hungry salesperson with potential no knowledge who needs a sale, to pay bills. It’s freaking scarey , should be mandatory to put engine and max tow and axle in all ads.
thank you

Use the link above I provided.
Select ‘Vehicle Specifications’, then select the Year/Model of the truck your thinking about .
Scroll down the the tow/trailer/load /axle rating charts and the data is there for the specific build your thinking of.
As well as the Tow Guide for GCWR https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/d...VTTowGuide.pdf
Like scott.butler4 mentioned, there are a lot of variables giver drivetrain/axle ratio, cab and bed, engines, W/B profiles etc, and reading the charted data per each year your considering would give you an idea of trucks weight/carry ratings..

Thanks a lot I spent a fair amount on your first link and it is very informative and much appreciated. And for that link and your time to respond I thank you very much.
It is such a large purchase to screw up because of the lack of knowledge of sales people who them selves have to learn all there is to know about each vehicle , cars and trucks. It’s a huge ask ,for them to each be fully informed.
I don’t blame them, I blame the companies they represent for a lack of education , as to where to find accurate information, and pass on to the purchaser.
please keep any ideas coming as I am sure there are thousands in the same boat .....
Cheers

If you find a specific truck, I can look it up by M/Y, engine, axle ratio, and cab profile and get you a GCWR. It wouldn't be exactly build specific, but from there with the linked info you should be real close to your rating..
