Default 1988 f250 air diverter/ air bypass

So my 88 f250 had a bad egr so I'm going to replace that, but I decided to check the hoses and the rest of the stuff attached to the egr system. When I took off the air divertets/ bypass I had a bunch of carbon come out of one. So I was wondering if there is a way to clean them out, because new ones are $140 a piece. Any help is appreciated.

You could try GUNK Carb cleaner and brush or CRC BRAKLEEN (red can). Sometimes rifle/shotgun bore brushes work well for nooks and crannies.
