Default 1989 Ford F250 5.8 Liter EFI Engine

Hello Everyone,

I have just purchased another F250, It's a 1989 F250 with the 5.8 Liter fuel injection, It leaks oil from the valve covers. Please advise me on the following questions and feel free to make suggestions.

1. How much work is involved in removeing the EFI unit to access the valve covers? Have you done it before?

2. Someone told me that the PCV valve has a filter that might be clogged and there is a hose with a filter at the end that goes into the air filter box, that might be clogged? Please advise.

3. What is the going rate to have this repaired by a reputable mechanic?

EFI unit also takes gaskets when removed. Easy removal usually - torque wrench needed for proper reassembly. PCV has no filter - it is an essential valve though. The other filter he's thinking of is the breather filter. Most engines have them -most are clogged though it's not good to be too clogged up. I could do that type of job cheap. Check what the intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, PCV valve and breather cost - add on$10 to $50for the service and that's a fair charge. Other garages like to take a good chunk of your wallet.
