Default 1999 F b250 won't start

I have my late FILs PU here while the estate is settled. 1999 F250, v10, gas, 103,000 miles. Won't start. It did this once before but finally started and I even drove it a few times. The first time, it got cold for a few days and when the weather warmed, it would start. Did not happen this time. Turns over good, has that stupid alarm system, so you can't listen for the fuel pump to see if it is running. Is there a DIY way to see if it is getting gas?

Just F 250, the "b" was a typing error.

Hi Rusty,
Would like to suggest something that might help.
Some V10s had a little problem and if you could manage to try what I am suggesting it might help.
If you have a hair dryer or type of heat gun try heating the PCM when it won't start. If it manages to start after you heat it ,there is a cold solder joint in the PCM.
Before going any further let us know if this worked. Thanks.

Sorry Hanky, so much going on I haven't been messing with it. Where is the PCM on this truck? With the warmer weather it now tries to start, but just won't do it. I just need for it to start and run for a couple minutes.

Hi Rusty ,
Some had the PCM on the driver's side firewall, while some others had it on the passenger side firewall. Just look for the black box with 3 plugs on it.

What we usually did , and I know you know to do this, we try to determine if the no start is fuel or spark related.
Carb and choke cleaner is pretty close to regular gasoline so if you spray a shot of the cleaner into the air intake and it starts, there is a pretty good chance it is fuel related.
If no change, then good chance it may be spark/ign related and we go from there. I don't like to use starting fluid because most folks use too much and wind up doing damage to the engine.
Reminder,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, do you hear the fuel pump run for the usual 2-3 seconds when you first turn the key on ? If you do OK , if not let us know and we go from there.

It has one of those built in alarms that goes off for 5-10 seconds when the key is turned on. Too loud to hear the fuel pump. I will try putting fuel in the intake and then warm the CM if that does not work.

Tried both. Does the same. Code reader says "no codes".

Does the check engine lite go out when you are cranking the engine?

Alarms,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Does your vehicle require a coded key ? If so, do you have a second coded key to try? What does the anti-theft lite do when you attempt to start the vehicle?

The alarm is a stupid built-in thing. A Ford mechanic told me you have to disassemble the steering column and remove some parts, to get it not to sound. It goes off simply by inserting the key. It has done it since the truck was new. I just need the truck moved for now, about 20 feet. May have to try to push it with my van.
