2000 F250 gasoline engine will not turn over
My 2000 F-250 will not start. When I turned the key, the starter made a noise like it was staying engaged even when I let go of the key. Now, it will not turn over and all of the interior lights, radio, etc., act like they are not getting electricity. Additionally, the chime in the cab is making a strange beeping noise. The battery is fully charged. I tried to jump the starter at the solenoid located on the inside fender of the engine compartment. Any suggestions?
If you jumped across the starter solenoid and the engine would not crank, I would suspect atleast one of three possibilities.
1. Bad starter, you can remove it and have it tested at your parts store.
2. Bad battery. Just because it is charged doesn't mean it has the ability to crank the engine.Might explain the strange sounding chime.
3. Bad connections or cable from the solenoid down to the starter. That includes a good ground from the starter to the bell housing to the engine block.
It would be by far the least likely but a seized engine.

Considering it is a 2000 , I would be inclined to agree with the probable cause of battery cable/ connection problems. Most time when cables get corroded internally you can't see the problem and the one way to confirm it is by voltage drop testing, which requires the test be done while the vehicle is attempting to start (Under load).
