First, understand what is happening. There is a lean condition and the system cannot compensate anymore to correct it , so the computer is getting that message and now needs help correcting it. It is up to whoever is working on it to check out all possibilities that could cause a lean condition , or confirm the info coming to the PCM is authentic. This is where a scan tool comes in and shows present operating parameters and things like oxygen sensor readings, performance, and fuel trim readings.
