RE: 2008 F-250 Gas Mileage
My 01 f250 5.4 gets about 12mpg empty on the highway while the 3 valve 5.4 version in my bud's 05 f150 get 17-19 mpg. Most people dont consider that a supercab ford f250's base weight is 6408 lbs, chevy extended cab @6006 lbs and dodge extended cab at 5769lbs, (all 4x4's) ( Data from various internet sites including dealerships) one wonders what 400-700 lbs difference might make in gas milage, (or just built like an Abrahms tank)

RE: 2008 F-250 Gas Mileage
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I just bought my F250 6.4. I just put a chip (edge juice with attitude) on it and it's bad ***. Didn't notice much gain on the gas. I have a 8" lift with 37" toyo. It rides fine with the chip with a 3.73 gear. Maybe later I will regear it. Anyone put a air system or exhaust for gas mileage gains? Currently, AFE, K&N and Banks don't have a filter for this year.

RE: 2008 F-250 Gas Mileage
Does anybody have any other suggestions other than not to baby the engine and to make sure tire pressure is good? I have a 2008 F-250 KR 6.4 with 23K miles and my mileage went from around 13.4mpg toright around 10mpgover time. I'm not sure what to try anymore. I dont baby my engine by any means so I'm not sure that comes into play with me. I've been to the dealer and they said it was because I added a front end replacement bumper, rear bumper, headache rack and toolbox. But I was getting better gas mileage even after I had all that stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 2008 F-250 Gas Mileage
I am getting average 14 ... but have seen that I can get 17 MPG if I drive light from the stop and not over 70MPH. Did not get to the 14 average until after 15K miles on the truck - break in period. Mine is a F250, 6.4L FX4 Crew Cab. I pull a 12,500 lbs fifth wheel on and can average 7MPG with huge hills to climb. Pulss like an animal!

RE: 2008 F-250 Gas Mileage
I am still getting aroung 10.4mpg and around 11.6 hwy. I changed both fuel filters 2 weeks ago and didnt notice any difference. When I took my truck in to get the fuel filters changed my truck went into regen which it does all the time. I mentioned that to the dealer and they said that it will do it whenever it feels like it needs to. I have also noticed that when I am in gear but stopped that the engine will idle high causing the truck to move forward on me unless I stomp on the brake. The dealer ended up reprogramming the PCM. I went to the ranch this weekend after picking it up from the dealer. I hauled about 1400lbs of feed and got 11.6mpg on the way back with the bed empty I averaged the same mpg. I dont know what to try anymore. I dont baby my truck, I've changed the fuel filters and I've even slowed down to about 70 instead of 78 - 85mph. I just dont understand why I was getting better mpg even when I went faster and then all of a sudden it went from around 15mpg hwy to 11 and 10 in the city.
Please help!

Very disappointed
My husband just bought the 08 F250 Superduty CrewCab. He is getting 12.2 at just over 500 miles. We traded in his 06 Dodge 2500 CrewCab for this Ford. I wish I knew about the terrible mileage this Ford has. The dodge was getting 20-22 mpg when we traded it. This Ford has to get better. What was this about fire from the exhaust?? This concerns me. He is looking at purchasing this dielsel particulate filter with a cat delete.Has anyone heard about this? I love Fords, but I'm not happy with this truck.

hi, just be glad your trucks are running-lol- everytime i go to the ford dealership that i used to work at to buy parts that i cant get anywhere else,(which is about 3-4 times a month)they got at least 2 trucks with the cabs raised to replace an engine or do a major repair on the engine and most are under 20k miles-ford has a bigger problem with this puppy than they did with the 6.0l and my customers who still have some older trucks that i work on at my shop, but also bought some of the 08 models, are getting an average or 9 miles per gallon empty, mark.btw none are happy with thier new trucks as yet.
