Default 2008 F250 steering issue

When braking hard at approximatly 45-55 miles per and turning the wheel when exiting the freeway my steering wheel locks up and takes considerable amount of effort to unlock it. It has happened twice now and I haven't experimented with taking the foot off the brake when this happens to see if it releases. Has anyone experienced or heard of this issue and does anyone have any suggestions what might be causing it.
thanks

Digital,
The best way I can explain it is if you were parked against the curb and your turning the wheel towards the curb and the steering wheel stops in your hands when the tire contacts the curb. Only this happens when braking hard and turning the wheel when coming off the highway on an exit ramp, and if I apply a fair amount of force to the steering wheel it releases and allows me to turn the wheels further. It is not like have the steering wheel locked like when the vehicle is not running. When this happens I can turn the sterring wheel back the other direction with no restrictions. I hope this better explains it.
