2010 F350 5.4L gas mileage
Although I did'nt expect great gas mileage from my F350 XLT Super Duty 4X4 5.4L,I'm averaging around 10-11 mpg.The terrain here is hilly, but I do'nt get much of an improvement even at 55-60 mph on the interstate.I use Lucas fuel treatment, but don't find it helps much.Is any one using an aftermarket chip or K&N air filter?...I wonder what will help.Tire pressures are not low,but I am carrying 200-300lbs around...

Hi Gary, those 5.4s weren't noted for the best mileage. As i recall there wasn't too much available chip wise for the 5.4. Even empty and on the hiway , the best mileage was obtained right after it went onto OD , around 45-50 mph. It might help as soon as the weather warms up. It helps if you are running hiway tires.

Hanky..yep,the 300 ponies need to be fed,but they're very big eaters.
I'll try switching over to syn in the Spring. The claims being made about a
different chip seem a bit far fetched.Tires are 18" Continentals that came stock.I've barely turned 4K mi on the clock...meb'be things will improve yet.

i dont understand it,you expect good gas mileage with this setup.have you ever owned a diesel? you have yourself an outstanding truck,no doubt.but i might mention ,im averaging 17 mpg around town,f350 crew,7.3l.and 15 to 17 pulling my 8000# tt.not bragging but those 5.4s are what they are. gas hogs .wait till you get a real load on that beast.just make sure you have some fuel stops on you route.

if your getting 10 to 11 miles per gallon, then your doing good. that is about average for the 5.4 motor in a superduty. plus depending on what gear ratio you are running will also effect your mileage. I had a 08 superduty with a 5.4 and was getting about the same on a good day. I had stock 20 inch rims and a/t tires. so needless to say it was more of a 800.000 a month yard decaration. after the new 2011 superduty's came out I was out looking and went with the new diesel this time and i love it.. and the mileage what a hugh difference
