2017 F250 4X4 Wiring harness wrapped up in front drive shaft
I engaged my 4X4 and heard a clunk clunk, lost all power to the truck and all the lights came on the dash. I tried to start it again with no luck, I looked underneath and noticed some wires hanging, upon further investigation there was a 3 way harness that was ripped out of all the plugs and wrapped completely around the front drive shaft.
Well crap, I was 3 miles back on a gravel road with no cell service, so I hiked to the closest house, luckily they were home and I used their phone to call Roadside assistance. The only good experience I have had was the tow company was there within 1.5 hours, had me on a flatbed and took me to the closest dealership which was 35 miles away.
Once I got there I was offloaded (camping gear and all) and told that Ford doesn't not cover a loaner vehicle....they actually said "IF I bought the extended warranty it would be covered" ... So now Im 150 miles from home, in a parking lot with all my gear in a truck that aint going anywhere, and the dealer was no help to me, so I started to call around and found an Avis that had a truck I could rent (I had alot of gear). So 600 bucks later (1 week rental) Im on my way...
So now to my dilemma, I unwrapped the harness when I was stranded so I knew exactly what it was, I actually handed the dealer the 3 way harness and said order this and expedite it please. So 3 days passes and no calls from the dealer, I just called and they said the part is on backorder with no eta, but they did find one at a dealership in another state but they are waiting to see if they will sell it to them???
I have owned alot of Ford trucks, alot...I had just 1 problem before and got the run around from the dealership and did not get any resolution until I hopped on here and some mystery person from Ford contacted me and took care of the problem.
I get the fact that poop happens, I kept my cool, however when I spend 72K on a truck and barely pass 12K miles and this happens and they dont want to at least help in anyways just irritates me.
1. There was no tree or anything caught up under the truck that may have torn the harness off. (picture attached)
2. I was at a stop when I engaged the 4X4, when I started to move is when it wrapped up.
3. No I dont have a picture of the harness wrapped up, I removed it before thinking about taking a picture.
Any suggestions?

Well it doesnt look like there was much interest on my case, anyways update is the wiring harness is on backorder, best case scenario is end of June, Ford will not cover a loaner.....
They just lost a customer for life.

Personally, I would have left the harness the way you found it (took pictures thought) and let the Dealer's mechanics remove it. I would also have to assume that other wiring damage may have occurred before the harness let loose.
I'm not voicing for Ford or the Dealer, but..."I actually handed the dealer the 3 way harness and said order this and expedite it please."
72K or not, there's nothing like walking up to a strangers pool and pissing in it, then expecting them to give make you a cup of coffee.
