Default 4x4 Actuator

I have a 2001 F350 7.3l with the electronic 4x4 selector, manual hubs and a ZF-6 manual transmission. A few years ago, my 4x4 stopped working. I replaced the switch in the cab but that didn't fix the issue. My suspicion is that the actuator on the transfer case is the problem, but I don't know enough about this system to be sure. Is there anything else between the switch and the transfer case that could be the problem? Is this a common issue with these models that has a common fix?

Welcome to the site.

An actuator motor would more likely be an issue given the work and environment they're subjected to. I'd check at the motor connector for power/cycling distributions. I can provide you with pin out circuit check points if your up to the task.
