Default '77 F-250 highboy

Hey there everyone.I'm looking into getting a '77 highboy with a 351m and a c6 tranny.Anything I should look out for?Plus it's a flatbed, how hard would it be to switch it back to a pickup bed.Kinda new to this all so ANY and all advice is most certainly welcome.

If it came stock with the 351M, it isn't a Highboy. Ford quit making them in 1977, I think the cutoff date was April, but some searching will come up with the actual serial number. The 77 1/2's (still titled as a 1977) were lower, but you can still fit LT315/70 R16's on 8" wheels without lifting the truck. Most parts counter people don't understand this anymore, so to make it easy on myself I usually ask for parts from a 78.

The hardest part of putting a pickup bed back on a mid 70's truck is going to be finding a decent bed in the first place; then you get to find out if the factory mounts were butchered when the flatbed was installed.

Small stuff can give you fits too; wiring, lights, fuel filler and vent hose, bolts to hold the bed on.

Good luck,

Robert
