Default 88 351 Fuel pump and EFI not working

My truck will not start. A neighbor came over and helped me and we re-set the switch under the dash and no change. He checked the relay and said it is okay. The pump is not working but we hotwired it and we can develop fuel pressure. We crank the truck with the fuel pump pumping and the EFI is not working and so the truck will still not start. My neighbor said there is a tan wire with a green stripe that comes to the relay and supplies a ground which turns on the pump. He said the ground is not arriving and so the fuel pump is not being told to run. What would tell the fuel pump and the EFI to not start working?

Sounds like what my buddies 89 F150 300 6 did....

Underneath where the relays plug in there are little prongs, that the relay actually plugs into. Those get corroded over the years and do what you are describing.

Scrape them off good and give it a shot.

later,
Dustin

Thank you Rusty ol Ranger. I did what you said and although it did not solve my problem, I appreciate your response. There was corrosion in there and I wirebrushed them off and put it back together. Both relays are working but they are not getting a go ahead from the EEC. When I turn on the key there is no check engine light. When I turn the key back off the check engine light flashes briefly as the system shuts down. It fires with ether shot into the butterfly. After a couple of days of sitting around it fires up and starts and runs great for a short while or maybe all day long. Can't trust it right now as it sits out on the street nearby. When it finally starts again I'll bring it in the yard and try whatever is next in the scheme of things. Come on guys. Share your experience with me.
