89 F250 gas tank drain..??
#11
New problem with 89 F250 truck.
I live around Athens Georgia about 60 miles up from Atlanta. YES..!! The fire ants around here are highly defensive and aggressive. It is bad when your on your back under your truck with both hands working on something and they start stinging you. About 2 years ago I woke up and they were in the bed with me OUCH..!! No joke the fire ants get so bad around here in the summer time if I had Napalm I would let them have it.
OK new problem with truck.
Saturday I was going to drive it down the road just to check it out. It started up no problem at all and idled like a new truck.
I put it in 1st gear and off I went. Truck ran great for about 200 feet then it started to spit and sputter. When I let off the gas truck idled just great. When I gave it some gas it started to spit and sputter and cut off. Truck started right back up no problem and idled great. (did this 2 or 3 times) Then I eased on the gas pedal the RPM's went up a little and the spit and sputter came back so I put gas pedal to the floor truck cut off. Then
I let truck sit for about 15 minutes. Truck started up and idled no problem put it in gear drove like a new one for about 100 feet and the same thing happened spit and sputtered.
What I have done: Added 1 bottle of fuel injector cleaner to the 5 gallons of gas in tank today Sunday. I let the 460 run for about 30 minutes to make sure the injector cleaner was in the motor. (yes like a fool I jumped up and down on the back bumper to mix it in the tank.)
Truck sat there and ran great the whole time at idle speed. Then I gave it some gas.
Any suggestions will be greatly welcomed.
Thank you hanky and grindman.

is it multipoint fuel injected or does it have a throttle body that looks like a carb. on it?
you might just try to blow the cobwebs out of it and let the eec reset to the way you drive it. may I suggest something you may end up having to replace the tps or throttle position sensor
