94 f250 4x4 with 5.8 just died
Does your engine have a distributor or is it using a crank sensor to send the signal to the ECM ?
Have you found what the cause for the burned smell was?
Something to consider, before you replace the ECM if that is what you are planning, try to determine where the burned smell came from and before the replacement ECM is installed we usually try to remove the cause for the failure unless it is in the ECM itself.

if your are looking for certian parts for that motor checkout lmc truck for the part you may be looking for should be there I also have the same motor and have ran into similar issue with the safety neutira switch which is located on the driver side of the truck that may also be a issue
If you haven't got it going yet be sure when you filled it at the gas station you didn't accidently get Deisel fuel. I know the pump nozzle should be to big for the filler hole but there are some small ones out there, and believe me it does happen and give the symptons you describe.
Mine did the same thing and it was the fuel cut off switch that burned up. The ford dealer said the ground got loose somehow and caused the switch arcing to burn the connections up. They replaced it and it worked just fine.
