Default '94 F250 drop in displayed oil pressure

..Got the 351W,4WD with 123K mi.Truck has been a good runner.Recently had an erratic reading of temp ( about 15-20 degrees high) which now seems OK,but instead have a lower oil pressure reading ( about 1/4 way up the scale).I suspect the oil pressure sender and have an OEM one coming form the local dealer. To be safe, dumped the oil & changed filter yesterday, which made no difference. My understanding of the test for OK instrument(guage),is with ignition on(engine off) the guage should read midway when the sender lead is grounded..OK that's the problem.
With winter here in NY,it ain't fun.I can hardly see the O/P sender hidden beneath and behind the power steering/compressor mount on the engine,or reach to it to remove the lead.Seems it may be possible to reach in with a long extension, but I'm not sure if the special socket for O/P sender switches (on/off idiot light) is what will work to remove the guage type sender here.Anyone done this one? Thanks in advance,Gary

Thanks,Man...the new one will arrive on Monday, and I'll then know what's what with the socket fitting up.I changed one out on my '91 E350 a fwe years ago,but it was a lrger size sender, and quite easy to reach....this one's way in there and hardly visible w/o some serious wrenching. Now,if were May or June...the job might look easier!

and now to page 2...the five point O/P sender socket won't grab onto the sender due to rust making it undersized...nor will a 1" 12 point socket.Next plan is to try a 15/16" 12 point, and force it on to fit. There's likely only one chance at this working...damage the sender and I 'm really f*&^@ ed.Probably gonna let this one go till warmer weather.
