Default Antifreeze leak

I have the 460 and notice a leak by the front passenger tire. When I popped a hood, I could fluid on top of the block by the windshield. There is two hoses next to it but I cant tell if they carry fluid or not by the naked eye. Do you know if one of these or both carry coolant?

Need more info like what kind of vehicle since all are not the same.
Also, the color of the fluid would help and from the sound of your description it sounds like they could be the two heater hoses. What does the coolant level look like , Full?
The best way to pin this down would be to have someone pressure test the cooling system and the leak should show up quite fast. If it is a heater hose and you can't do anything right away , a pair of vise grips on each hose will temporarily block them off stopping the leak until they can be replaced. This is only a temporary solution and may require both hose be replaced once pinched.

I agree...heater hoses are often overlooked and considered until they fail. While you're about it look over the entire cooling system. Here in the Hudson Valley it's getting damned cold...just the time when stuff happens...

its a 88 f350 dually with mason dump. I think you guys are right about it being the heater core hose. That makes sense being the location its in. At first I thought maybe the block.

Its green. I just topped the anti freeze off because it was half full. I have 3-4 hydraulic hoses in that area and noticed the drip under the tire but being green I knew it wasnt the hydraulics. It took me a few minutes to see the other two hoses. Someone rigged a electric fan over the hoses. They both come from behind the engine and arent to visible. So I guess thats return and send? I see one plugs into another hose but not sure where the other goes. Are these quick connect hoses? Are they easy to get off and get to? Usually you have to go through the glove box to get to the heater core.

I only drove this truck about 30 miles. So far did the brake lines, trans cooler lines, trans pan, I'm waiting on the oil pan. So I'm not to familiar with the truck.

They were a type of disconnect fitting at the heater core. They also had a special tool to make removal easy. Since they were probably never removed before and are original
it's a good chance they will break when you try to remove them. It would pay to get new retainers before you go to disconnect them. I don't remember if you were able to just use a regular 5/8 or 3/4 hose clamp if you wanted to eliminate the nylon retainers.

I looked at it today and still cant figure out which one is leaking. Theres so many damn hoses. I really dont want to pay for a leak down test.

No smell in the cab but it does smell under the hood and the temperature gauge isnt working but that wasnt working before I noticed the leak. I dont have foggy windows like the heater core went and the heat is still working.

If you look at the puddle its real small drip but I'm worried about it busting in the middle of a snowstorm.

the hose coming out of your water pump and across the top of the alternator appears to be the hot water feed into the heater core...the return from the heater core would be worth a look. What is that fan thing with the white blade?...Never saw anything like that.

I think the previous owner put the fan there to keep the hydraulic lines cool.
