Does anyone know if the audio control module (ACM) from different model ford vehicles are all the same for the 8” screen? I have the B&O sound system.
I have a 21 F250 and am 90% sure the ACM is burnt out on my truck. Verified all fuses are good and all the connections are good/ fully seated.
Compatibility I don't have an answer.
If you buy a used one you will need to program it, if you ship yours for repair, you don't need to reprogram it. You might be able to use Forscan to program it, or pay someone to do it. It can be $150 to $300 just for programming.
What you should do is to check for any DTCs and write them down. Find a seller on ebay who can do Ford ACM repair service, tell them your DTCs, and all the issues, then they will let you know what to do next. If they can't fix they will tell you upfront. Often they have spare components/parts they can just swap over without reprogramming.
You buy a used one you spend $800, you repair yours $200.
Ok thank you! I just got forscan the other day and the plug the other week, so I’m gonna attempt to figure that out and will update when I find something.
If you have Forscan you should be able to program an ACM replacement yourself but it appears a used one is quite expensive around $400, and there is also no guarantee that everything is working fine. Those used modules are usually pulled from a wrecked vehicle and untested. You buy it at your own risk and taking the chance.
When you ship yours for repair, not only do they address the issues you are having, they also replace other components like all the capacitors that are known to go bad sooner or later, and if anything wrong within 1 year there is a warranty, and at around $200 plus a round trip shipping.
I myself have done quite a few repairs on PCM but I'm still consider myself a beginner working with PCB, replacing bad capacitors. So you are highly urged to let the pro to do the repairs, for around $150 to $250.
Your truck is too new, my alldata software supports any car up to 2007 with full pinpoint tests and what to do based on a specific DTC.
If your radio and speakers are working fine, you shouldn't act on anything. But since you have Forscan you can erase the DTCs and see if they come right back. You can also reset ACM module and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Module.
I tried to look for possible TSB related to audio on your 2021 F-250 and I found the following:
No. Simply go to eBay and search this keyword "ford f-250 ecu repair"
Then ask the sellers if they can do it, if they can't they won't take your request and money.
If you remove yours, look at the ford oem part number, go to fordpartsgiant.com and run a search then view the vehicle fitment. Say your truck has a build date 09/20 and the manufactured date on your ACM is 06/20, and when fordpartsgiants say module A: 10/19 to 10/20 and another one, module B with 11/20 to 11/21, then you can get the module A (because your build date of 09/20 is within the date range of 10/19-10/20), then there is a chance you don't need to reprogram a used one within the same date range. Make sure the seller accepts returns and don't forget just because it gets powered on doesn't mean all the functions and features are working 100%, it can be just 80%. Not to mention a module, even an audio amplifier, the factory one for BMW, if the date range doesn't match, you still have to program it.
And of course, check for possible wiring problem is the best you can do.
