Default battery backwards?

I have a 1988 custom super duty with a 460 and I just noticed the battery is possibly backwards. The positive is on the right side and the neg is on the left. There is no red cable to indicate positive from neg. Has anyone ever ran into this? If it is backwards would the lights still work, or anything at all?

No,, no electrical would work.
Tell tale check is,, the battery ‘positive post’ is always slightly larger than the negative post, and sometimes some of aftermarket batteries will have a + and - cast into the top of the battery casing near the corresponding post.
If all cables are replacement black, (never a good choice) Generally just a quick check following the cables down and/or over,, some may have a smaller gauge secondary wire/s that may show which polarity the cable carries, or may terminate as a chassis/engine ground. Battery positive can usually be followed to the starter solenoid, alternator etc.
If the truck is cabled in reverse polarity, or jumper cable assisted backwards, the fuse links would burn, go open, and system voltage lost..
